OUR DISTRICT  AT A  GLANCE

There are about 600 TFE  Chinook's Edge teachers who teaching 10,000 students at over 40 schools in Central Alberta.  We take  in River Glenn school in Red Deer, and  go as far as Carstairs and Cremona  in the south.   Sylvan Lake forms our western boundary, and we go east to  Elnora.

NOTICE OF MOTION TO RAISE LOCAL LEVEY FROM $4 TO $10.
 
          Celebrations 2007 sponsored by Chinooks Edge central office and ATA Local #17 was a great successes this year.  The room was packed, the music (Didsbury High Jazz Band) had a well practiced classy sound , and the food was divine.   It was a special treat to hear from  the Minister of Education, Honourable Ronald Liepert.  The MC of the event, Mrs. Heather Henderson-Hill, kept events flowing nicely and the wit of Superintendent Jim Gibbons is still with us.  Special thanks to retiree Board Chair Roy Brassard for his dedication.  Close to 200 teachers and employees were recognized for their hard work and service.  Fabulous! Look for some friendly faces you know.
Celebrations 2007
       The Chinooks Edge division wide Pd day was a well organized, resounding success this year in Didsbury.    School children had the day off while teachers s t  r  e  t c h e d their mind and in some cases their bodies with a change of pace.   Thanks to Chinooks Edge for supplying lunch and to Pd Chair Laura Lee Hrabok and entire P.D. committee for arranging all the sessions.  A lot of home grown talent was evident. with session of everything from Yoga to looking at innovative technology like Bio Fuel.   Many session provided hand-outs ready for use.   Of particular interest was the taste of a day long session on bullying put on by the ATA.    Many resources were highlighted, the focus was on group discussion of strategies, and a cool cartoon video  "Bully Dance" was shown.  The video is available at www.nfb.ca/showpeace
IMPORTANT NOTICE  -  UNFUNDED LIABILITY

    A General Meeting of Local #17 to vote on mediators recommendations for our local contract will be held Tues, Jan 22 at 5pm. at Innisfail High.  Also, ask your ATA rep. & check your staffroom for details regarding unfunded liability.
All teachers should make a point of attending and voting.
